I thought I was pretty good at it and one day I bought what I thought was carnival glass and when I got home found out it was imitation. BOY! DID I LOSE SOME MONEY ON THAT DEAL!
You see, that goes to prove that nobody is perfect. There are so many imitations on the market today on everything. If you are not sure, go get an antique dealer and have that person take a look at it and make an evaluation. WORK SMART. DONâT BE FOOLED AS I WAS.
At one of our first yard sales my wife and I went to we bought a box full of items for $1.00. When we got home we started looking through it and guess what we found. A 3X silver spoon that alone paid for our trip.
We also found an old dirty dish. I said to my wife letâs wash it and see what we got. It looked like an old dish, maybe used as a celery dish. YES IT WAS HEAVY! It had jagged edges all around. We didnât know what it was, but, we felt pretty sure that it was valuable. So we got into our car and went to see an acquaintance of ours that deals in just glass. We showed him the piece and he looked it up in his book. Sure enough it was a Depression piece worth $367.00. BOY, WERE WE EXCITED!
